I don’t think Joy Orbison has ever produced anything I don’t like. From the dizzying dancefloor smasher ‘Hyph Mongo’ to his more recent, understated and mature collaborations with Nonplus Records label boss Boddika. This edit is something you will’ve heard if you’ve managed to catch any of his sets over the last year or so. Donell Jones’ ‘U know what’s up’ is hands down one of my favourite RnB tracks of all time, from one of the best albums in that genre, from that era. Joy O manages to find a nice little melody in the synths, that just teases the lead vocal throughout, and the drums….well he gets them right, again, as he will do time and time again. Groovy, techy, just flawless! Like a couple of other Joy Orbison tracks (eg. GR Etiquette) , this will probably never see a release, but save your tears and instead console yourself with a fantastic RA podcast from the man himself HERE. (right click, save target as)
Shouts to Panza for this one..
