Benzel are Umi Takahashi (15) and Yoko Watanabe (16) originally from Osaka and now residing In New York. They met and hit it off over their love for 90s RnB and J Dilla, not much is known about the pairing but this well produced cover of the Brownstone 95 classic ‘If you love me’ is an indication of what we can expect to hear in future. Jessie Ware does a sturdy job on the vocals, smooth and sultry as ever, stuff like this is like shooting fish in a barrel for her, but in saying that I still massively prefer the original. This version however is an interesting enough interpretation for you to sit up and take note of Benzel. Listen and download below.
