• THE UPFRONT PROJECT PRESENTS @ The Lightbox – This is probably the pick of the whole weekend for me, and it’s where we’ll be heading. Only £5 a ticket for what is an incredibly solid line up, full to the brim of exciting talent. Ikonika, Cooly G, Two Inch Punch, Ifan Dafydd, Eliphino and Bobby Tank amongst some of the djs on show. • THE FUNK, SOUL & RARE GROOVE REVIEW @ The Bussey Building – Jazzheadchronic presents a brand new night playing the best of the classics. Think Norman Jay good times and Gilles Peterson at plastic people for the vibe you’re gonna get here. Worth the trip down to hear some monster hits being played on sweet sweet wax.

SATURDAY

• SOLID GROOVES ROOFTOP PARTY @ Brixton Clubhouse – The weather report is looking good for the weekend, it’s going to be a scorcher. So where better to spend it than on a plush rooftop terrace, with a BBQ, with a jacuzzi, soundtracked by the finest deep house, tech and disco.
• FW>>11th BIRTHDAY AT RINSE @ Warehouse E1 – FW>> has been responsible for breaking some of the biggest artists in the UK underground clubbing scene. It’s where a lot of producers met, it’s where a lot of sounds were first developed. Artists such as Mala, Loefah, Dbridge, Kode9, Pearson Sound and James Blake have all cited FW>> as instrumental in their development. Celebrating its 11th birthday at the capital’s favourite underground music station, this is set to be huge.
